Acts Pt. 44 – Example of Faithful Service Pt. 2
1. Read 2 Cor. 13:5; I Cor. 9:26,27; 11:28; I Tim. 4:16; Ps. 139:23-24. What do you do to maintain a practice of self evaluation? What things will hinder us here, and what is the danger if we neglect this?
2. Read Mat. 7:15; 2 Pet. 2:1-3 - While pastors have a specific calling to guard the flock, how can we as a congregation practically help "guard the truth" and protect one another from "fierce wolves" or “inside attacks?” i.e. - what are some ways that false teaching could come into our church? How do we guard against that?
3. How does a plurality of pastors working together more effectively guard the truth than just one person?
4. Read vs. 32 - What are some practical ways we can lean on God’s power and the word of his grace for our edification, sanctification, growth and peace?
Personal reflection questions:
1. In Acts 20:28, Paul tells the elders to "pay careful attention to yourselves." Outside of your outward "religious" activities, what is the current state of your heart’s "wellspring" – Pr. 4:23; 22:5; 23:19; Mat. 12:33-35; James 1:14-15
2. As you look at the mirror of God’s word (James 1:22-24), what is one area, particularly in relationship to your role in the body, that God is leading you to grow in?
