Acts Pt. 45 – The Highest Calling
1. What are some ways you can grow in the area of Christian friendship? What are some things that might be holding you back/standing in your way and how does scripture speak to those challenges?
2. In regards to your current life and situation, are there any “inconvenient truths” or hard tasks that you’ve been avoiding because it might/will make you or someone else uncomfortable? How does this passage challenge us here?
3. Read John 12:27, 28; 21:19, Acts 20:24; 21:13, Romans 14:7–9, 1 Cor. 15:31, 2 Cor. 4:10, Col. 1:24, 2 Tim. 4:6, 7, 2 Peter 1:12–15. What does Scripture teach about our calling and goals/values?
4. On a practical level – why can it be difficult to encourage someone to do something that is hard – and how can we better encourage a friend to obey God even if that obedience leads to sacrifice?
Personal reflection questions:
1. Who is one person God has put in your life that you need to seek out to better serve or encourage this week? What are some practical things you can do?
2. Take an inventory of the major decisions you are facing in life. Are there any situations where you are taking these decisions based on comfort, “peace and safety,” or in fear – rather than based on God’s specifical calling/gifting/prompting?
