Acts Pt. 50 – Plots v. Power
1. In this passage God used 470 Roman soldiers, a secular tribune, and a pagan governor to protect His servant and advance the gospel. Why do you think God frequently chooses to work through "natural" secular means and unbelievers rather than supernatural interventions?
2. Considering Paul’s situation all the way through this passage (imprisoned), what does this teach us about the idea that God's protection always means immediate comfort, freedom, or an escape from difficult situations? What are some situations/responses you may need to adjust as a response?
3. How does knowing that God sovereignly rules over earthly authorities shift our mindset away from a self-centered "American dream" and toward a bold "Kingdom dream"? What would that shift practically look like in our local community?
