All my “gain” counted as “loss” – To KNOW Christ!
1. Paul describes his religious "gains" as loss that could interfere with truly knowing Christ. What are some modern "religious" habits or "good works" that might actually hinder us from relying on Jesus?
2. Has there ever been a time in your life where you’ve “caught” yourself valuing other things over being “in Christ?” What were they and what are some scriptures that help us keep things in perspective?
3. What does it look like practically for a believer or a church to experience "belonging with Christ" in our daily fellowship? (Ps.51; Eph. 4:22; Romans 13:14, etc.)
4. If you feel the weight of your corruption or the burden of your shame, how does the reality of Jesus’ "it is finished" on the cross give you peace today?
Personal reflection questions:
Are there areas of your spiritual life that have become "rules without a relationship"? What’s something you can do this week to pursue "knowing Christ" through personal fellowship rather than just religious performance?
Hebrews 12:1 calls us to "lay aside every weight". What are some "weights" (habit, distraction, or other “love") that is currently stealing your time and affection away from God? How can you address that?
